An active voice in aviation for many years, Tilak S. Ramaprakash has undertaken audits of aircraft and pilot safety, and helped institute industry best practices. Since 2015, he has contracted with AvJet Solutions, Inc., as a transport pilot flying Beechjet 400 and Gulfstream G550 aircraft. Tilak Ramaprakash also serves as a safety management system (SMS) auditor and consultant.
Mr. Ramaprakash began his career in the mid 1980s after earning his BS at Purdue University in aviation technology and aviation maintenance technology. As a line service technician with Fort Wayne Air Service, he operated fueling, deicing, and ground handling equipment. Accepting a position as a line and hangar maintenance supervisor, he ensured that all aircraft were kept in optimal condition for safe and compliant flight. These included those reserved for charter and instruction, as well as those belonging to customers.
Mr. Ramaprakash has held a number of captain responsibilities over the years, flying Boeing 777 aircraft for Air India and Jet Airways, and Boeing 747s for Western Global Airlines. Across more than three decades, Tilak S. Ramaprakash has been a consistent contributor to the cancer fighting efforts of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
